About Ramayana.com

Ramayana.com is the free, ad-free home of the Ramayana online, a project of Ved Vyas Foundation. Here, we offer the complete Ramcharitmanas by Goswami Tulsidas and the complete Valmiki Ramayana by Maharshi Valmiki. There are no payments and no advertising. Every meaning is credited to its edition, with a link to buy the printed book, so that reading here may lead to a place for scripture in the home.
What you will find
The scripture is at the centre of this site. We publish the complete Ramcharitmanas, verse by verse, with the original Awadhi text, Hindi commentary and English translation. Readers can use either the Hindi or the English interface.
The Valmiki Ramayana is also available in full, across all seven kandas and 648 sargas, with Sanskrit text and Hindi or English meaning. Both works are presented from Gita Press editions. The Hindi commentary on the Ramcharitmanas is by Hanuman Prasad Poddar. The Hindi translation of the Valmiki Ramayana is by Pandey Ramnarayan Dutt Shastri.
We name these sources because a meaning should have a clear source. The reader should know whose explanation accompanies the verse and which printed edition to seek.
We also offer ways to begin with courage, devotion, dharma, peace, love or surrender. Begin where the need is felt, then keep reading.
What we will never do
We will never place advertisements beside the scripture, put its verses behind a paywall, sell readers' data or publish a verse we cannot source. We take no payments or donations on this site.
Access to the text should remain simple. A person who comes to read about Shri Ram should be able to give attention to the scripture without an advertisement interrupting the page or a payment standing in the way.
The foundation and our family of sites
Ramayana.com is a project of Ved Vyas Foundation, which also runs BhagavadGita.com, RadhaKrishna.com and HanumanChalisa.net.
For those who wish to keep reading on the phone, the free Ramayan app, “Ramayan: Ramcharitmanas Hindi”, is available on Android. It includes both scriptures, works offline and offers reading plans, bookmarks and a daily verse, without ads. An iOS version will follow.
A note on the film year
The 2026 film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend will bring many people to the story of Shri Ram and Mata Sita. We are glad when that interest brings a reader to the text.
Ramayana.com is independent of the film and is not affiliated with its makers. Here, readers can turn to the scriptures themselves and give each passage the attention it deserves.
How to help
Read a little regularly. Share a verse with its reference, so that another person can read it in context. Buy a printed book from Gita Press or another publisher. The Gita Press Ramcharitmanas is one place to begin.
If you find an error, report it with the page and verse reference. A clear correction helps the next reader.
