# Privacy policy

Ramayana.com and the Ramayan app are made by Ved Vyas Foundation. Both are free, carry no advertising and take no payments. We built them to collect as little as possible, and this page says exactly what that is. Last updated 30 October 2026.

## The website

Ramayana.com has no accounts, no sign-in, no cookies for advertising and no tracking across other sites. Pages are served from Vercel, whose servers keep ordinary access logs (the page requested, the time, the browser type and an IP address) for a short period to keep the site running and secure. We measure visits in aggregate (which pages are read, which country, which device type) without identifying you, and we never sell or share this information.

If you install the site as an app on your phone, it stores recently read pages on your device so they open offline. That data stays on your phone.

## The Ramayan app

No account, no name, email, phone number, contacts, location or photos. The app shows no ads and does not track you across other apps or websites. To keep the app working and improve it, it sends a small amount of information that is not linked to you:

- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): what went wrong, your phone model and operating system, so we can fix it.
- Usage events (Google Analytics for Firebase): which screens are opened and actions such as finishing a chapter or starting a plan. Never the verses you read word by word, and nothing you type.
- Your phone's advertising ID (Google Analytics for Firebase): so we can tell whether an install came from one of our own ads for the app, and whether that reader went on to open a verse. It is used only to measure our campaigns. You can reset or delete it in your phone's Google settings.
- A notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), only if you turn on the daily reminder, so we can send the occasional festival message.

This information is not sold, not used to show you ads, and not shared with anyone except these service providers, who process it for us.

## What stays on your phone

Your settings, reading progress, bookmarks, streak and reminder time are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

## Notifications

The daily verse reminder is scheduled on your phone at the time you choose. You can turn it off in Settings or in your phone's notification settings at any time.

## Sharing

When you share a verse, the app hands the text or image to your phone's own share sheet. We do not see what you share or who you share it with.

## Children

The site and the app are suitable for all ages. They never ask anyone, including children, for personal information.

## Changes

If a future version adds an optional account or anything else that handles personal data, we will update this page before that version is released and describe exactly what is collected and why.
